Troubleshooting Unable to change “Default Text Formatting for This Field” Errors
Question: I’m setting up my custom fields, and when I attempt to change the default settings for Default Text Formatting from XHTM, I see the following error message:
A Database Error Occurred
Error Number: 1054
Unknown column ‘0’ in ‘field list’
UPDATE `exp_channel_data` SET `0` = ‘field_ft_8’, `1` = ‘none’
What’s causing this?
Answer: You’ll get this error if you attempt to a change field formatting and you elect to have all entries updated to the new setting. If you don’t have any entries yet, the error happens.
To work around this problem, don’t elect to save the formatting updates unless you have any entries.
